Aromatic compounds are used to enhance the odor of many products. It is made by blending together many types of materials. All ingredients differ in odor, chemical properties and price. A skilled artist will use his or her knowledge to craft a scent that will be pleasing.
A fragrance composition, or formula has endless possibilities and permutations. Adjusting the arrangement, or parts per thousand is an element of the creative process. Fragrance ingredients can be added, reduced, replaced and substituted with similar materials or different chemicals. A formula is a skillfully blended combination of florals, fruits, woody, spicy, musks, herbs, citrusy materials, etc. Often employing artificial bases, special blends, essential oils and aromatic chemicals. A finished fragrance is made up of individual scents that work harmoniously together in a blend.
